The Test, Measurement, and KPIs Validation (TMV) Working Group (WG) of Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has released a comprehensive white paper titled “6G KPIs – Definitions and Target Values.” This publication plays a crucial role in defining the key performance indicators (KPIs) necessary to measure, validate, and refine 6G networks as they evolve.

Among the contributors to this white paper is Israel Koffman and Baruch Globen from RunEL Next Generation Mobile Networks Ltd., a valued consortium partner of OPTI-6G, who actively participated in the TMV WG discussions and reviews.

The Role of the TMV Working Group in 6G Development

The TMV WG focuses on standardizing and promoting best practices in 6G testing, monitoring, and analytics. By fostering common methodologies across multiple SNS JU projects, the working group ensures a unified European vision for 6G network development.

A key objective of the TMV WG is to define and validate 6G performance KPIs that will serve as benchmarks for future deployments. These KPIs are integral to measuring network capabilities and guiding ongoing research and innovation in 6G technologies.

Key Highlights of the White Paper

The white paper consolidates KPIs from various SNS JU projects, offering detailed definitions, target values, and validation methodologies to shape the future of 6G network performance. Some of the critical aspects covered include:

  • KPI/KVI Definition and Analysis – Establishing clear performance indicators that define the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of 6G networks.
  • Testing Frameworks and Methodologies – Developing structured approaches to 6G network testing, including tools, scenarios, and expectations.
  • Data Collection and Validation Procedures – Standardizing data acquisition processes for accurate performance evaluation.
  • Testing Lifecycle Management – Defining procedures for execution, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of 6G trials.
  • Special Topics: EMF & Data Reusability – Addressing electromagnetic field (EMF) considerations and ensuring efficient data use across SNS JU projects.

By consolidating KPI definitions and methodologies, the TMV WG contributes significantly to ensuring consistency across 6G trials, fostering interoperability, and supporting innovation in the next-generation mobile network landscape.
