RunEL partner presents OPTI-6G at the MWC 2024 in Barcelona

One of our project partners, RunEL presents OPTI-6G at the MWC 2024 in Barcelona between the 27th and 29th of February 2024.

Installed at the stand 8.0D7.9 among the other innovative start-ups.

ABOUT RUNNEL

RunEL was founded by RunCom veterans, the people behind the invention of the OFDMA technology. Today, they continue to strive for excellence in innovation and relentless execution. In early 2000’s RunCom introduced OFDMA to international standard committees to make it the physical layer basis of the 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution)  and WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) Cellular Networks used today the contribution to bringing Video, Voice, and Data Internet to people around the world is undoubtedly significant and has had a profound impact. The OFDMA technology played a crucial role in enabling widespread access to these essential services. The proliferation of smartphones, iPads, iPhones, and other devices has been made possible through reliable and efficient connectivity. Providing people with access to internet services has helped to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals across the globe.

ABOUT OPTI-6G

The challenge that is addressed by OPTI-6G project is to design low cost, light weight, low electronic footprint OWC Remote Units (O-RUs) that can be elegantly integrated into near IR access points and whose receivers can be integrated into a myriad of user equipment such as extended reality headsets, drones, robots, AGVs etc. and compare it with an existing 3.5 GHz 5G cell-free network solution.

OPTI-6G project will significantly benefit 5G MNOs as it will considerably reduce EM interference that would have otherwise been generated by Home gNBs, thereby increasing throughput in the wider 5G mobile network and improving mobile access to users within buildings without incurring interference with the wider 5G mobile network and thus increasing the value of their customers’ buildings.
